How can I make marketing easier?

We all know the power of marketing, it's an essential ingredient to any business. Yet, it can feel Icky, uncomfortable AND it can be a mahousive time suck too.

There are loads of people offering advice on how best to market your service and/or product, which can be very overwhelming.

Which way is the RIGHT way?

I'm going to break some (slightly) bad news - there is no RIGHT way. There are loads of tactics out there which work, but not all will work for you.

I've had a love hate relationship with marketing for a long time. This made it harder to market - I needed to take responsibility and make marketing as easy as it could be.

The 1st thing was - to decide

It's within you to embrace marketing - and it's the 1st step to making it easier.

So how does it get even easier?

  1. Customer - remember marketing is about your customer. What do they need? Who are they?
  2. Content - yes you need to have content. This should connect with your customer, demonstrate how you can help them. Remember quality over quantity. It helps to have a systematic approach to this - makes life easier!
  3. Consistency - this is key, it's about having a baseline (which you set) which delivers a consistent message to your potential customers. You don't need to be out there all the time, and you set the bar.
  4. Collaboration - don't do it all yourself, how can you invite others to contribute to your marketing? How can you raise your profile by contributing to other businesses?
  5. Connections - you could call your marketing plan a connections plan. What can you do to create connections with your customer and other businesses who know and work with your customer?

Ultimately all of this comes by having a marketing strategy as part of your business strategy. It's setting the scene and your intention so your marketing makes the impact you need with the least effort possible. Ease also comes from bringing a systematic approach to your marketing - not the creative bit but the scheduling, content creation, practical bit.
